Everyday Peace and Coexistence in Cities
Ebru Sevik
This PhD project tackles the question of segregation as a social and spatial issue and looks at the everyday practices of coexistence in socially mixed urban neighborhoods. It investigates how divisions emerge, conflicts are negotiated through mundane interactions, and how these are embedded in the built environment. For that, it brings peace research in dialogue with urban studies. Empirically, the research builds on fieldwork in Ankara, Turkey.
The PhD project is affiliated with the EmergentCommunity project.
