Participatory Budgeting in Community-Driven Urban Planning

The research project studied participatory budgeting (PB) as a tool for community-driven urban planning in urban neighbourhoods.
It experimented participatory budgeting together with the neighourhood development project of the City of Tampere in a local neighbourhood of Tesoma. The project mapped out foreign practices of participatory budgeting, especially questions of the role and practices of PB in planning and decision-making at local level. The research project took place in 2014-2015. It was funded by the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland.
